A crackling fire, earthy woods, an ochre patina of spice, the embrace of a fire’s warmth on a winter’s night.
Two thousand centuries, fire our companion. The boundary between us & the world thinning as we look back. It is safety, it is comfort, it is warmth. Take the hand of all those that came before. Talk low and steady, deep into the night.
Caraway, Turmeric
Date, Cedar
Vetiver, Tonka Bean
Alcohol (alcool), Parfum, Water (eau), Citronellol, Benzyl salicylate, Limonene, Benzyl Benzoate, linalool, Eugenol, Farnesol, Coumarin, Benzyl alcohol.
All of our scents are vegan and cruelty free. We use a blend of natural and synthetic materials in our scents, especially where the natural equivalent faces sustainability or safety concerns.
"The turmeric and caraway add a welcomed spicy element while the cedar and tonka ground the composition" J.H
I ordered Burrow as part of a sample set, and it was extraordinary on my skin...warm spice, smoke, wood and earth that became beautifully enveloping throughout the day. I kept thinking that I wanted to crawl inside it.
I deeply love the stony, earthiness that comes from vetiver. The tumeric and cedar evoke spice and kindling, a huddled walk into an ancient temple while someone performs a fire ritual.
I have to admit I was mostly curious and skeptical at first, but the first spray of Burrow proved the quality of the work done here. There must have been an enormous amount of time spent in research in order to produce these singular scents. But for me, Burrow nails it. It delivers by its description. I'm amazed at how precisely all the ingredients can be detected, yet lingering in harmony, complimenting one another. I wasn't sure how it would smell on my skin, since it really is a unisex scent. What a revelation!
Plus, I had a wonderful surprise with how well it pairs with my other skincare products. I use black cumin oil on my face and the scents just blend really well with the vetiver in Burrow. Can't wait to try other samples, but surely I will keep this one in my top 3. Congratulations to Paraphrase and the noses behind it!
I added this scent to my sample pack as an afterthought and I'm so glad I did. There's something very familiar about this scent while, at the same time, there's an almost spicyness that smells unique. A little je ne sais quoi finish to a scent that is very cosy and familiar. I don't often wear perfume and was pleased to see the travel size should keep this scent in my life for some time to come. A single spray goes a long way.
Spicy, woody and earthy with a touch of smoke and the tonka bean sweetness as it dries really balances things out.

I ordered a sample set and found that many of the scents had that strong musky/cologne scent often associated with masculine fragrances. However, this one felt truly gender neutral!
It has a sort of dark, smoky sweetness you don’t find in many other fragrances, which I really enjoy. It’s also quite subtle and not at all overwhelming.
My only complaint is that it doesn’t last as long as I’d like it to, but that’s a trade off I’m willing to make for natural ingredients.
Also, I found that the full-sized bottle has a slightly different scent to the sample. The full size seems a little bit richer and sweeter in scent. I’m not sure if this is an inconsistency in batches or applicator types or whatever, but it’s minor enough, and still smells good so I’m not complaining! Just thought I should mention it.
absolutely love every layer of this sent... just wish it lasted longer
This is such an interesting scent. It has a heavy campfire smell right out the gate, which I've never smelled in a perfume before. I don't think it'll be a going out scent for me, but I love spraying it at night before I do some yoga, so I may buy it in small doses like another sampler pack.
When I met my boyfriend he had been wearing this sent. He had purchased it at a Folk Music Festival which was an important experience for him. There’s something to organic and unique about it. I believe it smells different on each person. His energy is matched by this scent and I had to order him a second bottle once he ran out of his first. It just feels like him. The scent is so whole and has incredible depth. It’s something I hope he wears forever.
This scent reminds me of my grandparents' cottage. Woody, earthy and a bit smoky. Thank you for this trip into my childhood
An aroma of its own. Subtle with strength, not unlike good whiskey.
Wooden blocks left by the fireplace. Spice and flowers under the stars. Beautiful.
I have sampled all of and purchased three other fragrances from Paraphrase which I love but Burrow is THE fragrance for me.
Burrow opens spicy and smokey and settles into a lovely clean all-day warmth with a gentle lingering spiciness. For being warm and smokey there is still a clarity and brightness, like a warm forest floor on a hot hot summer day, to this composition that makes Burrow so wearable to me.
While some warm and smokey fragrances may be "winter" fragrances, I wear this year round and love it, I most often think of it as a summer bonfire. Friends always lean for an intentional sniff after a hug when I am wearing this.
The products are made well with awesome branding & packaging. The smell is amazing & lasts long 😎
Not new and exciting. All the samples I received were very "old fashioned" smelling. Not for me
such an amazing scent ♡ I get a lot of compliments... I just wished it lasted longer
So good! I feel so sophisticated and this scent is so unique it’s a really upped my esthetic.
I tried sample sizes of the non-floral perfumes and of the 5, Burrow was the definite choice, although all were distinctly lovely. For me, Burrow contains an unusual slightly dusty quality that makes me pause and analyze, and in the end describing it isn’t possible. It lasts well. It’s a great perfume for compliments. One other thing to mention is the really top quality customer service from the company. Thank you.
I have a huge soft spot for this brand, and Burrow in particular! It's like digging your hands in fresh garden soil to plant a tree, there's an earthy, nutty, woody quality to it that's so lovely. It's perfect for fall and winter
I love all fragrances from this house, but I just don't love some of them on my skin. This is one of them. It's interesting, woody and smokey for the first 30 minutes, and then it just disappears. From the entire line this one's longevity is the weakest on me.
While not a “me scent” - this is a beautiful perfume!!!
I am disappointed with my purchase. The scents are not to my liking and they do not have the staying power. Perhaps I have not found my desired scent.
Warm, smokey, unique. I really don't care for floral or citrus scents and this one is just perfect. LOVE!
This scent feels like a warm hug on a chilly day. It smells like home- cozy, smokey and sexy all at once. My all time favourite scent. Great work 😊
I love this fragrance. I bought it after trying Libertine's different smells and kept coming back to this one... Warm and enveloping scent, perfect for a winter evening.
I’m obsessed with this fragrance. I keep wanting to smell myself when I wear this. I don’t think there’s anything else I can compare it to. Sometimes I think it smells like moon cake, which is scrumptious. Not to mention it is a beautiful bottle. Wooden cap with an engraving on the top. Really great quality
I am obsessed with this scent. It’s warm and rich, earthy and mysterious. I smell my wrists over and over all day. I absolutely love it.
I started following on Instagram and looked into it a little more. I was intrigued y some of the descriptions so ordered a 4 scent sample set. The samples come well packed with cards to test with and the one I was most drawn to on the site, Burrow, turned out to be a new favorite. It was the Tonka Bean notes that drew me to this one but it has a great earthiness mixed in with spice notes that take me to another space. I wasn't sure at first glance but with this all coming from a home grown Canadian company made with care I just had to give it a chance. After wearing it I need to say, this one is a must have in anyone's collection.
This one was my unexpected favorite from a sample pack. It smells of dirt and grass and animals snuggling down to sleep with their litter. There's a sweet, musky note that reminds me of the light sweat people sometimes get when we sleep, and it immediately reminded me of bedding down in sleeping bags with other little girls at childhood slumber parties! This will be in heavy rotation this fall.
Such an exquisite scent. Original, but familiar, sweet and smoky.
