"The opening of Fin de Siecle has something shocking and even reckless, and it perfectly conveys the spirit of the epoch that was full of permissiveness and forbidden lust. And if you are not afraid to go against the moral norms and rules, this perfume will reveal its alluring rosy heart with some ardent nuances." - Ventvenir
I liked the pefumes but didn't love the packaging. 3/4 were in little boxes that fit nicely into package like the photos onkine (-1 empty space) but the fourth was thrown in seperately without a little box.
I am not a huge rose fan and did a blind buy of a discovery pack and this one, there is a unique combo happening here. I'm obsessed as there are layers on the dry down and lasts a long time on skin.
I fell in love with this perfume as a sample. It became a part of my daily routine. Even my mother, who find fault with everything, likes it.
I enjoyed all the perfumes in the sample pack BUT this one just raised my mood as soon as I put it on.
I'm sorry, but I really don't like the new reformulation. I wore it a few times just to give it chance, I really anted to like it but it's a scrubber. There is nothing wild, rosy or animalistic about it anymore, it's all wilted and herbal.
I know that new regulations often come out in perfumery or ingredients get harder to source, and that's why perfumers have to come up with new formulations. Nevertheless, the original Fin de Siecle is my favourite Paraphrase fragrance so I'm pretty disappointed.

From the start a fruity rose, more jammy than fresh, grabs you --her nails oxblood red of course. The black currant lends both a vintage flair, and the slightest pissy nuance. And of course there is the wonderful, velvety oakmoss, patchouli, civet base. This rose wears being put together as drag. This is for the hot girls (not gendered) who are not afraid to get dirty.
I love this rose - its not your usual English Tea Rose scent - its more musky with Myrrh and the Patchouli comes out sweet and lingering ….
Love these scents!!
Having owned multiple rose based scents over the years, I would say this is the gold standard. Not sure which specific variety of rose is used but it’s definitely not synthetic as many are these days. And the woody base carries it really well through the day. It’s not overwhelmingly floral or spicy. A really great mix that lasts and lasts and makes you want more.
Please don’t discontinue this - it’s a masterpiece !
Mon nouveau parfum préférée! Il tient bien en plus.
How? How can I possibly be smelling the same scent these other reviewers are describing? It can't be possible.
I got a staggering boozy blast that fades to an indeterminate slightly animalic rose. It could have come out of a skunked bottle at a yard sale.
This perfume made me fall in love with Libertine and order a complete discovery set. It's an instant signature fragrance for me. Beautiful, loud rose, unlike any other rose fragrances I've tried. It's warm and animalistic, not gourmandy like most warm rose fragrances. It's just sweet enough to help accentuate the rose. It makes me feel like a vampire or a drunk artist at night in Paris during Fin de Siecle. It's a perfume about a beautiful lady, but a kind of lady that does as she wishes and is not tied by social conventions- maybe someone the lady from the Portrait of a Lady could be if she could let her hair down.
I'm curious what the new formula is going to be like after rebranding next year, but I bought an extra bottle just in case. I'm so excited I've discovered this house and I will be buying the new edition of this perfume as well.
After two orders of sample kits, I finally landed on this delicious scent. I get endless comments about it, mentioning the uniqueness of it with each person trying to identify the ingredients… It's a lovely signature smell ❤️
Love that my favorite fragrance comes in this convenient travel size. Perfect for my recent trip to France. The hotel manager LOVE LOVED it!! There is absolutely nothing else anywhere that is like Fin de Siècle.
Still my favourite from Josh's line of unique, inimitable fragrances. Fin de Siecle is dark, sexy, exciting and evocative of a dark, sweat filled, rose filmed saloon. None other compares...
Love it! I am very happy about my purchase.
I’m in love with this scent , it’s powdery, floral and fresh also lasted a surprisingly long period of time. I applied it in the afternoon, still could smell it in the morning ❤️
I purchased a bottle for my girlfriend’s birthday, and it is one of the sweetest smelling perfumes I’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying.
Lingering gentle scent a good choice for softness
with a dirty earthy edge.
I love the scent, a little floral, a little Smokey and spicy just a great combination
Beautiful floral, accompanied by black currant, with some very animalistic base notes… it’s like being in the most exquisite whorehouse and I’m here for it.
I did the discovery set. All great!!. Mostly unisex to male leaning. Highly recommend sampling first. I am into rose scents-, at first wiff I didn’t know if it would work for me as it had a strong animatic bite but after a few minutes it settled to a dark dirty rose. Not sweet or floral -Mysterious, this would be a great signature scent for someone daring.
Definitely let it settle on your skin before you judge it. This ended up being a 8/10 for me and I got a full bottle.
Reminds me of the character ‘Severus Snape’ from harry potter.
Kinda dark deep black smokey rose hints and the bloom of black pepper reminds me of HP spell expelliarmus.
I am obsessed with it. My other best choice is sweet grass and i bought both
Thankyou josh
Edmonton proud💥
I don’t understand how notes work I don’t understand the story descriptions, but it’s a very earthy, herbal, almost spicy rose. After it dries down I smell like potpourri, which I do like. not my usual vibe but I think on a night where I’m dressed up I can really appreciate this
For those who love a deep and heavy rose scent, this is the perfume for you. I couldn't stop smelling my wrist throughout the day! I like the additional kick of spice that adds warmth to the perfume. This, along with Sweet Grass, were my favourites of the sample kit. I'll gladly be buying a larger size in the future.
I’ve worn Libertine for years now and even when I try out other brands, I also end up coming back to Fin de Siecle. It’s become my signature scent and I feel like a luxurious woodland fairy wearing it, it's a scent that I feel like I've been searching for for years I feel like I've finally found it. Its romantic, its unique, it's somehow melancholy. I also appreciate the personal touches that Libertine includes with their orders. It truly feels like something special in this fast paced world. I’ll be purchasing their fragrances for years to come. Thank you!
Wonderfully surprised and fully impressed. Long lasting, layered, rich and full. I will definitely return for more and excited to explore more scents! Thank you libertine!💛
This scent lasts. I love that it actually has longevity. Its quite strong so best for night outs and special occasions but it a beautiful scent. I could have sworn there is oud in here but its not!
Really enjoying this; the sample opened my eyes to a mature, confident line of scents but this one stands out. A winter scent-the roses are not sweet or cloying here, but haunting.
This rose. She can have my heart on a platter. She is a vampire who lives out her days in woodland glens of moss and streaming brooks. Though she will never eat them, she keeps a bowl of apricots in a brass bowl inside of the tree she has built a home in, winding stairways to the top. She has lived through every age and prefers the solace of the woods. She has known the highest court and the deepest sin but she is pure at heart and an old soul. She opens her red velvet curtains to every dawn to breathe in the morning dew. Apart from this mystical envisioned story that is evoked for me, it reminds me of what kind of perfume Patrice from the movie Kate & Leopold that Charlie has a crush on might be wearing as a signature scent. She’s got a vampire grunge vibe but appreciates art and poetry. This is the kind of uplifting dewy green, red rose I need to smell during PNW winters to lift my spirits. It is at once tinkling and archaic as it is elegant and alluring. I layer with Soft Woods to burn into a mystical rose incarnate, or wear with patchouli or vanilla to become a little more earthy or edible.
